Rory is regarded as one of the leading technology lawyers in the UK, having led practices at Baker McKenzie and Bird & Bird.
He has acted on over several hundred transactions in the UK, US and globally, with a value exceeding USD 50 billion, and is described in the professional directories as “leading the pack” and “tough to come up against.”
His practice covers corporate and commercial work, principally in the technology sector, including corporate acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and procurement/outsourcing deals.
He has represented Disney in the US and UK in multi-billion dollar MVNO deals (establishing mobile telecoms operations), as well as “3” and Orange in the UK and Switzerland in ground-breaking technology outsourcings.
Rory acted for the Algerian subsidiary of Qtel on its mobile network management outsourcing to Ericsson.
More recently, he advised Genpact on the acquisition of Citi’s OpenWealth division.
He specialises in business-critical and innovative deals.
Rory is a Founding Fellow of the Global Outsourcing Association, having been its first legal director, and is a member of the British Computer Society and of the Society for Computers and Law.
